Who we are

Foolproof provides proof-reading services for academics, businesses and individuals across the UK. While we have built a reputation for specialising in proofing and editing academic work for customers who have English as an additional language, we work regularly with native English-speaking customers and offer a full proof-reading and copy-editing service for a range of document types from PhD theses and CVs to application letters and marketing copy.

Foolproof is run by Alex Hawkins (BA, MA), an experienced academic proof-reader. Working with a small, carefully selected group of proof-readers and copywriters, Alex can match your requirements, turnaround time and budget to the right member of our team. What we can do for you

When you order with Foolproof, you will be in touch with your proof-reader directly. As well as checking and correcting your work, we can give you feedback and advice when returning it if you require. Our personal service and small size means we can be flexible and provide exactly the service you need – just ask!

With unfailing attention to detail, Foolproof is cost-effective and can make a difference to your work, whether in the academic or business world. Don't take our word for it – see what our customers think.

3 reasons to get your work proof-read

image 1
Spelling errors and poor grammar give your customer/reader a poor impression of your work.

The most convincing words and best-researched claims will lose some of their impact if the author has made a number of errors. If your written work doesn't show a good attention to detail and accuracy, will your reader(s) feel able to trust what you're saying?

image 2
It's much harder to spot your own errors than other people's.

You know what you're trying to say, so your brain will sometimes see what you meant to write - not what you have actually written.

For many academic assessments, the quality of your writing will count for 10% of your mark.

If English isn't your first language, or writing isn't your strength, don't sacrifice your marks to simple mistakes.
